file does not begin with '%PFD-'

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
I have several users who get this error when trying to pull up a quote in a website. The quote is returned in .pdf

When this first happened, I was able to remove windows update KB944533 and the site worked like a charm.

The problem is back and I can't find a solution for this.
I have done the following:
-cleared temp/temp int
-removed all kb updates after KB944533 were issued (based on the dates they were isntalled)
-removed adober reader and tested on 6,7, 8 and the new 9 versions
-I am not a programmer but did try the following:
add .pdf application/pdf as a new MIME type on the webserver.
- I removed the KB944533 from the webserver
- I have teseted this on windowXP SP2 and 3
- firefox does not work either

I've had this happen occasionally when using FileNet Web Access to retrieve files from FileNet Content Services. I've solved it by restarting IIS on the Web Access server.
