i'm running a foxpro 2.5 exe on a windows 2k desktop from a novell 3.12 server over a win2k network. networked printers are attached to the novell server.

config.fp points to temp directory on the local harddrive. (variables editwork, tempwork and sortwork point to c:\foxpro\temp) config.nt has files=120.

users are sporadically getting 'file creation errors' when executing apps which print to networked printers. the error locks the pc requiring abnormal end via the win2k task list.

any ideas on what's causing this and how i might prevent it in the future?

thanks,

ann

Ann,
Are you using MS or Novell network clients? If Novell, are they current, and have the default caching parameters been reset? Are these printers being Captured and mapped to the local LPT port? Note: I have no specific answers since we are running Novell 5.01, we aren't running any FPD apps any more and I have no way to test it. I'm just hoping to get you thinking in an as yet unexplored area.

I remember something similiar to this in my "Day of Future Past"
Seems like the code went something like this:
created report.dbf
Use report.dbf.
populate with whatever.
report from report to print
use
deleted report.dbf
....

In the second or two the report.dbf was in use, the application would crash if another person tried to run a report because it could not create the report.dbf.

Like I said, it is a long shot.
