Hi,

Is there a utility in linux that allows me to copy a folder structure with all permissions intact?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm fairly new to linux -- but I must say, the more I use it the more I love it.

I need to stop thinking in windows terms. In windows I would have needed a different util. ACopy or PCopy I think.

I had been already using cp -r .. I should have known! DOH!

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Alan

Alan 'thinking in windows terms'?? An oxymoron if ever I heard one ;-)

Glad to have helped.

Ken,

Is there a way to copy incrementally? How do I copy a whole bunch of files over, but only copy changed and new files?

Alan

Hey, I found it, forget that last question -- my head is in another country today.

-u for update. ;)

cpio will, and I think that tar nowdays also keeps permissions intact. tar did not used to.
