Hello,

I have finally managed to get w2k server installed on my new server. (Specs 1.4 gig athlon 2x60gig hd's in raid mirrored, 512 mb of rdram K7tpro mbr). The problem is when I try then to setup active directory, it then prompts me to install DNS server which is fine until I get the message :-

Windows Server Setup
-Installing DNS Server

Copy error

Setup cannot copy the file cache.dn_
the directory name is invalid (Error #267)
Source : D:\i386\Cache.DN_
destination c:\winnt\system32\dns\cache.dn_

..It the prompts me to enter where to get the file from or browse to find in the standard dialog box. Thing is when I browse it can see the file on the cd, I click on it and still it produces the error. I even tried copying the file to hd and locating it from there but still I get the error. I thought I might be able to put the files their manually, however the folder dns in system32 seems to be hidden and despite going to show all files and going at it from the cmd prompt the old dos way, it cant see it. I therefore tried to create the directory dns in system32 but it says it already exists! Can anyone help with this problem? I have checked the MS Kb to no avail..

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this!

Sounds like the file it is trying to copy is corrupt. Do you have another disk to try and install from.
