I have a customer with a Magix 2.2. Their processor is on the outs. So I have a release 3.0 on the shelf and I'm going to put that in tomorrow morning.

I'm kind of confused on the file convert to get their back up on the 3.0. I have backed up the 2.2 to the my desktop. I have WINSPM 8. I went to convert, and then selected 3.0 in the drop down. After that, I'm assuming that I put in the new 3.0 and do a restore from file??

I tried to do this once in the past, and it didn't work?

THanks,

yup That's it I usualy name the files OLD22 and NEW30 so I don't get confused. The defult new filename is CONVERT

Once you have the backup file on your computer, use the "convert" option to bring it up to R 3.0 then restore the converted file. It will take about 10 minutes, and the system will be unusable during that time.

Don, pepperz, thanks a lot for the re-assurance. What would be a reason why the new processor would restore? What's the lowest version WINSPM to do this with? I have 8.0. Can you do with SPM 7.0?

Thanks,

I outlined WinSPM versions here thread689-961431
