Hello:
I am trying to figure out something that works in 98 & NT 4.0 but does not work in 2000 or XP.
We have an internal web site that allows us to view text reports that are generated from our mainframe using a web browser. The extension it puts on these text files is .hps, now in 98 & NT 4.0 we were able to simply associate .hps files with Word 2000 in file associations and when the report was viewed in the website, the report would open up using an embedded ms-word viewer in IE. We were then able to use word to modify the look of the report prior to printing.
This does not seem to work in XP or 2000, or at least it does not open up an embedded word in IE. I just simply displays the text file in IE, with no editing options. However if I save the report to the desktop with .hps extension, I can open in up in word by double-clicking.
Any ideas how to get this work? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
