File Associations greyed out

We have recently set up three servers on our metafram system, however when users log in and try to open a jpeg file or gif file no program opens as the program associated with it MGI photosuite which we have not installed or published on the metaframe boxes. Logged on to citrix no user including admin is allowed to change the file associations, also logging on to the servers as admin will not allow you to change file associations...all options are greyed out

Any ideas on how we can change the file associations or we can remove the greying out from the dialogue box so that the options are active

Have you logged on to the server from the CONSOLE as the SERVER ADMIN (not a domain admin)?

i have tried logging in as both.. and there is no change all options are still greyed out...

I have just been searching the thin.net website and they say that i have to set up per - user file associations do you know how to do this?

Where are you attempting to access the File Associations from?

Anna,

The ability to change file associations gets disabled when you install Terminal Services in Application mode.
There are several work arounds...

1) Use "associate.exe" from the resource kit (not tryed)

2) Refer to Technet article Q257592 (not tryed)

3) There is a registry key which you can alter which makes all the currently greyed out boxes available. I know it works because I have used it in the past, but it has slipped my mind at present. This is the best option. As soon as I find it, I will let you know....
