Is there any kind of numeric limitation on the quantity of files and/or folders in either XP or Vista? I keep pictures(9800 files, 160 folders, 14.4GB) and music(1623 files, 103 folders, 5.4GB) in my C: drive directory and had been considering moving it under My Documents in XP so that it would be easier to sync up directories with my Vista laptop. This would also increase the syntax of my new directory to be rather long: c:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\Pictures\Picture Folder\Filename.ext. I am not planning on transferring all those files to my laptop, but syncing would be much easier if all the files were in a similar directory.

Is there any kind of size (MBs) if quota isn't set? Wanted to make sure that I wouldn't blow things up and not be able to recover if I moved them and then violate some maximum in quantity or size.

You can have a read of this thread and see if it applies.

To be honest I have similar type paths and have never had any problems with accessing files from any machine on the LAN.
