File and directory permission question

I have setup some folders and have enabled inheritance for the basic settings of users having "list folder contents" rights. In particular folders I have set a security group with modify access.
The problem is that the group permissions are not overriding the interited settings. However if I add a single person to the permission list, this works. It only affects the security group permissions.

Users access the root level as G: and then the folders are under this. Tge share permissions on G drive are full for everyone.

Hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

Have you tried going into the advanced and enabling the 'replace permissions entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects' ?
