I have a very strange issue going on one of my Windows 2008 File servers. I have a folder called HR Transition which is under a folder called Shared Data. I have explicitly given certain user Full Control Permissions to the HR Transition Folder. When they navigate to that folder, they can see the subfolders, but their machines tell them that the folders are empty. If I log into to the server itself with a Domain admin account, I can navigate to the subfolders, and the files are displayed, and I get size data when I look at the properties.
Here’s where it gets even weirder: If I then try to open one of the files, I get a ‘File Not Found’ error. This happens with every file in each subfolder. However, I can copy a file from another location, open, edit it and save it. This folder is compressed and I am trying to avoid doing a restore but I suspect that even though the file names are displayed, they truly are not there.
