File access notification

Hi,

I was wondering if its possible to setup a file access monitoring in W2000 server. I have a logfile and in case there is a failed write access a notification is sent (e.g. email) or to a remote computer.

There are few system monitoring tools out there that read the Windows Event logs and send alerts based on what rules have been established (We use Tivoli Monitoring)
If you have auditing setup as part of your security policy for both object access and setup to audit the particular file/folder combination, you should be getting events submitted submitted to the security event log.
