FIGHTING WITH RESTORE & UPGRADE

I've got a 2.5 FP1 2.5 that I've taken a backup from. It was an 8 gig drive. I installed a virgin 20 gig 2.5 FP1 2.4 I'm trying to do a restore and it says that it's not the same version? I have a 2.5 FP1 MR1 upgrade cd. I was contemplating running that on the 2.4 but I don't know if it will reflect taking me to a 2.5 or show MR1 when I'm finished. The end result is to save the data on the 2.5 8gig to the 2.5 20 gig. I have a 2.5 to 3.0 keycode to implement following this data migration. Is there also a 2.5 FP1 2.5 patch? I Thought of trying to run the MR1 on both but the MR1 says it only applies to RC2.4v1 2.4v2 or 2.4v5? Any ideas?

You can only restor to exactly the same version. Upgrade and patch both HDs to exacly the same level, then it "should" work.
