Fighting spam

It's good that something is finally being done about, it but I can't help feel the whole system should be simply redesigned rather than governments fruitlessly trying to contain it.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

Regardless of design or re-design, there will always be someone who figures out a way around it.

It's one way of creating new industries. :)

Maybe that's what politicians mean when they promise new jobs that they can never deliver. "We'll come up with some sort of new law that makes something else illegal. Some company out there will think of a way we can then actually enforce that law."

The only way to eliminate spam is to eliminate the profit from it. Because that is nearly impossible (as there really is a sucker born every minute), I don't see any changes in amounts or content. I just see the governments using more and more spam filters, block lists, and third party software that will not only block spam, but possibly e-mail from concerned constituents.
