some unused directories in Program Files /Backup Exec / NT ???

bent.old = a folder I think was formed when I upgraded from 8.5 to 8.6

under AGENTS -- the folders for MAC, UNIX and Win95

The C: drive of the NT 4.0 Server that BE 8.6 resides on

needs every bit of hard drive real estate it can get -- does anyone know if I can get rid of this above stuff and not have any negative impact?

(I'm assuming the "bent.old" was just in case you had to for some reason go back to your original version like - some problem with the new - but I dunno)

Which drive is your pagefile on?

Move it to another drive if it is on C and that will help. Bin the i386 folder or move that (if you have one).

Thanks, Zelandakh - every little bit helps!

if you move the pagefile you'll need to restart for it to take effect. Check the temp folder/s and the temp internet items too.

You can also redirect Backup Exec to stores it catalog files at a different location. By default it stores it in \veritas\backup exec\nt\catalogs and you can also set the period you want to retain, ie: 60days worth. When you go into this folder it will contain lots of files. Delete only the oldest ones you don't want. You can delete all if necessary, but you will need to recatalog a tape before restoring. That's why its the catalog folder.

I deleted all catalog files prior to 1 October and freed up some space that way too - thanks.
