I HAVE AN INVOICE REPORT THAT WILL NOT DISPLAY THE VALUES ENTERED AS CURRENCY EVEN THOUGH THE FORMAT IS CURRENCY.

WHEN THE REPORT IS RUN THE USER IS PROMPTED TO ENTER THE VALUE OF "ITEM ONE","THEN THE COST", "THEN THE SUBTOTAL" ALL OF THE FIELDS ARE TEXT BOXES. I REALLY CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE $ AND . HAVE TO BE ENTERED IF THE FORMAT IS SET TO CURRENCY. CAN ANYONE HELP?

Just a guess: Is the "Format" property in the underlying table set to "Currency"?

You're not alone,

You need to be clear about the order of precedence of formatting instructions, which can be set in the underlying table, any underlying query, the form control, the report control and any totaling controls. I think the order above is from least to most improtant. You should check in the help file.

Thanks for the advice but......
There is not an underlying table that contains the values. They are typed in as the report is run. They are not saved into a table either. I did the same thing as you would when you want the period of time a report is for to display in the header.
