fields look messed up in the development area

I have a user encountered this situation. They use Dreamweaver heavily on a particular website and from Friday to Monday witnessed a different looking page when brought up the page in Dreamweaver to modify. But when they preview the page, it still looks like the way they want it to look. They are baffled. Could corruption of their style sheets cause this? And once they did publish the site rather than just preview it, would they see the site with its corrupted charactistics?
