Hi guys:

I am a newbee at MS Acess but have programming background.
I want to know is there any way by which we can store an information of around 1000 words in a single filed or entity.

Actually i want to collect the information from a text area of a webpage and store i into databse into a field.

Please suggest me any idea

Thanx

I will add a word of caution about memo fields. I had a situation in which my database became corrupted due to an error in a memo field and the only way I could correct it was through a call to Microsoft Access support. They told me that when a memo field gets damaged, the main indication is the inablilty to create copies of the database and the system tells you that one of your users has the file open even when you are the only one on the system! There is a Database compact routine available from microsoft that runs outside of Access and is more efficient and will usually eliminate this error. Just a word to the wise when using memo fields. I found my corrupted memo field by opening the db and noticing the appearance of a "#3" entry in the affected field. (If memory serves.) Best of luck.

Jody,

You are correct, we have run into the same situation several times. However, the only option is to write functions that break up the data into 255 character chunks and put them into text fields. This is not an easy thing to do, so memo fields (unfortunately) are sometimes your only option.

Is the compact routine you are talking about available to download, or do you have to call the monster known as the Microsoft Support Line? [sig]
Jim Lunde
compugeeks@hotmail.com
<a href= Application Development[/sig]

Yes, any further help on finding the external compact routine would be very helpful indeed. [sig]
Phooey
Andrew.j.harrison@capgemini.co.uk
Otherwise known as Windy Bottom.[/sig]
