I have a query in Access where I'm joining a last name and first name into one field, fullName (Last, First). In my Crystal Report, I can put this field on the report, but when I try and group by it, it's unavailable in the list of fields to choose from (The query and its other fields are available, but not that field). The same problem occurs trying to select it as a field in the select expert, or trying to create a parameter that uses fullName as the browse field.

Any ideas??

Thanks,
Ray

The field likely has more than 254 characters. In your Access Query, define the field size as less than than, and it should show up. Malcolm

I think you're on to something, but I can't see where within a query you can define a field size (I checked properties, etc...) Of the 2 fields I'm concatenating, one is text 25 long and the other is 30. I wonder if 57 is too long a length (2 for ", ")?
