field size limits

using CR8.5 - printing a db field recognized as a memo field
is there a size limit on printing a memo field??
the report field is stopping short when compared to the source.

any help appreciated...

Do you have can grow turned on in the formatting?

What database and connectivity are you using?

What does stopping short mean? What length is it, and how many chars are printing? (aproximate would be fine, but stopping short is almost meaningless).

Does it display properly?

Have you applied the service pack?

There were known issues with some connectivity, but without specifics I'd just suggest applying the service pack (just released in January).

can grow is checked
oracle db - ODBC
source field contains text journal entries (free form) ...acctually has in email that was attached.
approximately 850 characters.
the display is fine
have not applied the service pack...

Make sure that you use the Crystal supplied ODBC, not Oracles. This might fix it, a common mistake for developers is to use Oracles ODBC.

I've printed larger than 850 char memo fields using 8.5, but at what point is it truncated?

It stops in mid paragraph...can't see a logical break point.
The original report has the field in a Group Header. Thought that might be the problem, rewrote the report putting the field in Detail Section...same results. Created a word document manually entering the text to get a character count-- (995)

What is the datatype in Oracle?
Are you sure no CR/LF was entered at that point in the text?
