Field size changing after I set it

I'm using CR XI.

Why is it that after I set a field size to the size I want it to be, after I hit OK it changes the size? For instance, I set a text box to be .25" away from X (left margin), .25" away from Y (top margin), 1.55" long, and .15" high. After I hit OK, the numbers change. It seems to be random which dimension changes but it's always by .01". Doesn't seem like a lot but when I'm trying to put in the Guidelines, so I can have the fields snap to them, the box I'm trying to set the size of so I can make the Guidelines from that, the size changes. Is there any way to stop the fields from slightly resizing themselves?

In File Options try turning off snap to grid. I think the object is resizing as it snaps to nearest grid.

Leave free form placement checked.

I've seen this issue before, but couldn't find the related threads. In file->options, try setting the grid size to the smallest it can be: .011. Remember that the size/position items are set in twips, too, if you are using a conditional formula for anything.

Snap to Grid is unchecked and Free-form Placement is checked already.

No good, LB. I changed the grid size to .011 then set a field size to X=.28, Y=5.17, Width=7.04, Height=.26. After I hit OK, I went back to look at the size and everything had decreased by .01. I hit OK and went back to see it again and everything but the Height decreased by another .01. I kept doing this until they stop changing and they stopped at X=.25, Y=5.15, Width=7.00, Height=.25. Seems like they always change by .01" at a time and continue like that until they get down to a size that is a multiple of .05".

I tried this same thing again starting with a field that I set to the size X=.50, Y=.15, Width=1.15, Height=.20 and the Width still changed. It went down to 1.10 by .01" at a time even though it started at a number that was already a multiple of .05".

Seems if I set all the sizes to end in a .01/.06, they change to the .00/.05 after I hit OK and stop there. I'm not really fixing the problem but it works for now. If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know and I'll try them.

I didn't think it would address the issue, but it does give you more precision with the grid in the rest of the report anyway.
