field separator with sybase 12

We just upgraded to release 12, and I am getting different results when using the -s for field separators from my isql command. Specifically, on the isql line I use the -s"|" augment so that the returning output fields from the query are separated by pipe symbols. With the new release, the first pie comes after the first field, and there is a pipe following the last field. With the old release, the pipe precedes the first field, and there is no pipe at the end.
