Field 'Prov' is not indexed and cannot be modified

We have a DLL file that is created from Delphi 1.0. The DLL file is accessed from a Paradox 5.0 application. The error message that is appearing interemittently is:

"Exception EDatabase Error in module MA.DLL. Field 'Prov' is not indexed and cannot be modified"

Please advise.
