Field missing from PDF

I have a report the works correctly, but when I export it to PDF one formula disappears (unless it's a negative value).
I have two subreports that use the formuls, with different versions for group 1, group 2, and total.

The formula is basically: ({#beds} - {#census}) + {#leave}
All of the data comes from SQL views.

Anyone seen anything like this?

I found the problem!

I had conditional formatting on the formula that defaulted to crNoColor instead of CrBlack.

crNoColor will show up on the screen and on paper as black, but will be invisible on a PDF.
