Field length changes from CR XI view to BO XI InfoView 1

I have some database fields on my report that are purposely made smaller to only display first part of field due to space constraints. The fields display correctly on my PC with CR XI. When I move the reports to BO XI on our Solaris machine and view through InfoView, the field displays the entire field and overlaps the next field. Is there a solution for this?

do you mean that the physical width of the field was limited..
Try this as well..Format the field and select the 'Can Grow' option and set it to 1 line max..This will truncate the field to whatever width is there.

I do find it counter-intuitive to do it this way since it would seem that checking 'can grow' would mean that it would expand as needed - limiting it to 1 row looks like a contradiction to allowing growth, instead of triggering truncation of the field -- Oh well
