field entry for telephone number gets corrupted

when I type in a phone number in the phone number field
it ends up looking like this:

7.1685e+08

The field is set to "number"

I've tried using a new record, everything
it does the same thing again....

any suggestions?

I haven't had this problem with my phone number fields, however, I have created them a little differently. I made them text fields and in the Define | Database area I double clicked on the text field for the phone and under (Calculated Value) I clicked specify and put in the following {Let(Phone = Filter(Phone;"0123456789");"(" & Left(Phone;3) & ")" & " " & Middle(Phone;4;3) & "-" & Middle(Phone;7;4))} without the begining and ending {}. This formats the number put in to a perfect phone number field, it even filters any text that is put in. Give this a try and see what comes up.
