Is there a document which lists/describes all the fields in the individual Macola databases? All that I can find is a document that describes the databases.

Thanks[afro]

If you own Flexibility, you can install the DRM - Developers Reference Manual - browswer, which is a web like tool which you can use to browse all tables, fields, etc.

If you are running Pervasive and you own Flexibility, you can install the DDF explorer, which is a similar tool, and my favorite.

If you do not own Flexibility, ask your business partner for a copy of the DRMs in MS word format.

Even though the DDF Explorer and the DRM's are great for telling you some items such as data type and where they are in the btr file (in btrieve) I really wished that they would put out a designer with relationships etc.

Thanks for the responses. Andy, that's kind of what I was looking for :)

dgillz, if I don't have access to any of that do you know of a place to download it from?

1eyed: do you have access to the support website? If so, there is a putsy download you can use in the reference section to download the file definitions & the v7 version of "DRMs". Not like we had in v6, but something better than nothing. They list the cobol programs & the files opened in what mode by each program. If memory serves, I may have gone directly to the ftp site & downloaded w/ftp client software since the eSynergy download was slow & cumbersome while the ftp went pretty fast. You can use your pervasive tools such as butil & maintenance to get info about the file as well as opening the table up in pervasive db manager. This same type of tool is on your MSSQL client as well in enterprise manager & just by opening the table. If you can't get the info another way, I'll email you what I have downloaded over time if you leave your email address.

If your reseller (or you if you did it yourself) fully installed the macola help & techdocs files, you will find the filelo folder under technote & the file defintions should be included as well. If they aren't there, check your 103d update CD as that is when the most recent ddf changes were made.

1eyed,
Be forewarned! The DRM's are not always correct. I have found several times while executing a piece of code against the databse that a field is not exactly what the documentation says it is or used the way the documentation would indicate.

I second what Rob7 says....I have run into this as well doing data conversions.

Thanks everyone for all their help but I still can't find anything.

I looked on the server and CDs with no luck and don't have access to the site.

Is there anything else I can do?

Wait a sec...I just found a zip file named tcolls.zip with 16 .rtf files inside. They are dated 03-22-99.

I think they will work [2thumbsup]

Those would be "legacy" file definitions prior to 103d. The 103d version would be in a zip called tcoll75.zip & the rtfs are from 9/2001.

The tcoll75 file has the normalized table/field name definitions with the _sql table naming convention. They also include the layouts for the rma files, rfq, updated oe files for oe to po fields, etc.

If you need these, I can zip & email if you leave your address. Why don't you have access to the macola website? If you paid your maintenance, you should get a user id/password as part of maintenance. Then you can download that & much more documentation.

Thanks MacolaHelp. Here is my email: 1eyed@earthlink .net (take out the space)

I don't have access to the website or anything because the work I do for this company is as a friend/consultant. Most of what I do is in my spare time.
