I'm at a client who uses a custom SQR - which ADP charges them for each time it is run - to produce its Fidelity interface. The output is in fixed field length and multiple "records": one for name, one for address, one for city/state/zip, one for 401K data, which means they have multiple rows of data for each employee.

The client wants to know if a Reportsmith report could replace the custom SQR. Does anyone know if Fidelity will accept a csv file with all the data for an employee on one row? If not, is it possilbe to create multiple rows of data for one employee? How do you deal with the fixed field lengths?

What you would do is create a macro that writes the file. In the macro you can write as many output lines as nessary. To handle the fixed length issue you pad the data field with spaces or zeros or what ever the specs require. Really the hardest part of doing this is getting the query correct.

This powerpoint should help a little. About 3/4 of the way through I show a macro that writes a interface file.
