Hi

I am a bit stuck at the moment...

We have a test box (V5.1) that requires connection to the SAN via a fibre card (emulex LP8000 - not used on the other RS's we have ), after installing all the standard device drivers for a FC and after a reboot, the card was not recognized.

I have run cfgmgr and the following message has appeared
# cfgmgr
cfgmgr: 0514-621 WARNING: The following device packages are required for
device support but are not currently installed.
devices.pci.110e00f8:devices.pci.df1000f8

Does anyone know where I can find these drivers, I can only find the standard devices.pci.df1000f7 , I have searched high and low and far and wide (all be it on the internet) but to no avail.

Any suggestions welcomed

Many Thanks

Feature code? 6228?

My guess is that your 5.1 is not September or later...I would order a refresh
Also are you looking for the devices from all available software? I would try that as well...........It may be that it is not the latest and the card came out after your software did.........

OS level required: AIX 4.3.3 with AIX Update CD LCD4-0995-12 or higher, or APAR IY20367 from FIXDIST at the following URL: AIX 5.1 or later.
Initial Order/MES/Both/Supported: Both

Systems manufactured prior to November 30, 2001 may require a system
and adapter firmware update. Check the following web URL to review
and download latest firmware if needed.

Note: Fibre Channel boot also requires AIX 4.3.3 or AIX 5.1 at
the September, 2001 maintenance level or later along with a disk
subsystem on which this boot capability has been qualified.

Not sure this helps......but maybe....Don't know what date is on your AIX 5.1 software...

Thanks AIXqueen

I have found this on a TSM chat site.

"The driver that everybody is looking for, df1001f8 for the Emulex LP8000 adapter, is not an IBM driver. This is a driver that Bull has developed. "

Which explains quite a lot.

In the end I followed the instructions below and we can now see the Tape library across the SAN using the fibre card however in 'smitty tape' it says it is a scsi interface (I think I can live with this on a test box)will check if problems with speed etc.

Here is the info I found to be useful
Thanks alot

"LP8000s come with their own non-IBM drivers...
I had some difficulties to make them work...
LP8000 and 622x are belongs to the same family.
LP6000/LP7000 is recognized under AIX as devices.pci.df1000f7 (f700)
LP8000 is recognized under AIX as devices.pci.df1000f8 (f800) (Emulex
jumper set)
LP8000 is recognized under BULL AIX as devices.pci.df1001f8 (f801) (bull
jumper set)LP900x is recognized under AIX as devices.pci.df1000f9
IBM supports (they told me) the LP8000 but there is not the least driver
called .df1000f8you can only find ...f7 and ...f9 ones.
Here is my experience (many thanx again to my STK support guy !)
- remove all fc drivers (including IBM.common.fc)
- install devices.pci.lpfc.* stuff"
