Fiber trouble

I am using V-45 ended fiber with gemflex NIC's and a volition switch. Though I should be seeing 100mb, it is significantly slower than the token ring that I am replacing. The fiber is 50 micron and I'm not quite sure if the cable is working properly with the gemflex NIC's and volition switch which usually use 62.5 micron fiber. Both vendors say that's not an issue. Does anyone have any ideas about what I could do to increase performace? Anything would be a huge help.
