in my school, the fiber connection (to the other buildings) comes into a network cabinet. Then a feed from there runs to small box in a classroom. a second fiber cable goes to a room that used to be a lab, and the two runs are connected by jacks and a jumper in the "small box". what is the box called? it is white and has multiple SC or ST jacks (with red caps) Jeff Moss

I've always knows them as fibre patch panels or fibre breakout boxes.

There are several things you can call those boxes. For example; LIU, LIU is a trademark of AVAYA/Lucent. WTC Wall termination cabinet, is a Superior Modular Products. The most common that I have heard of in my 14 years of fiber optic career is Fiber Termination Box, simple as that.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
