depends on the cable you order that goes from the faceplate to the rear of the switch.. if your taking your fiber patch to the face plate.. it works with either... that was a major surprise when i had a customer change from mulit to single mode, we just installed the protected cable from the backplane to the face plate and tested... a0759620 type box that mounts external comes in either multi or single..
