We are currently using the ethernet network card in our V880 to communicate on the network. However our box also has a fiber network card as well. I am not physically located in the same building as the server. Is there a way that I can look through the OS to find out what type of card this is? We want to eventually switch over to the fiber card but I need to find out what type of fiber connections are on it so that I can purchase the correct cables.

Thanks

The printdiag command will tell you what type of card it is.

If memory serves me right it's a "ge" interface.

Here is what I got. Not sure which one the card is?
Can you help, I do not see any "ge", thanks

I also read that running the command 'ifconfig -a plump' will show the card info but I'm leary about running that command after reading the man page on it.

Thanks

telemorgan;

There is an onboard fibre port (ge) with a LC style connector. This will not show up in prtdiag.

Also depending on your OS there is a command prtfru which will give some of the part#'s in your system and you may be able to research those and see if they are fibre cards.

command;

prtfru | grep Sun_Part_No

Thanks
