I have some preowned Citel Fiber Extenders and I wanted to test them prior to installation on a fiber backbone. Can I use a length of fiber cable with ST connectors at both ends to link the LOCAL and REMOTE together then run the normal Nortel short fiber patch cable to the MICS on the LOCAL side and the 0x16 on the REMOTE side?

I am asking because I did not know if there is a minimum distance the LOCAL and REMOTE need to be from each other to avoid any overloading of the units.

I have seen this done only once, but it worked. The 0x16 was sent connected remotely through fiber extenders 500' away. Sort of surprised me, only problem we ever had was an occasional reset of the extenders due to some type of error. Did not happen often.
