I have to keep resetting a fiber extender because of distortion. Does anyone have any experience with this? this is connected to an M ICS OS X 16 all other modules are working OK.

It is connected to a MICS 7.0 0x16 with other modules using fiber extenders.
Every few days the user picks up the handset places a call the party hears a garbled sound. When I reset the extender it goes away for a few more days. I just replace both REMOTE and LOCAL extenders to see when happens. Just wanted to be ready with other solutions in case that does not fix it. I am wonder if the fiber cables could be compromised or can they be effected by dust or dirt on the ends?

Dust could be a hindrance maybe but doubt for this issue.
Using existing ones on site try swapping just remote or local in future so you will know which end is the issue.
Guessing bad resistors or caps on one of them and/or heating up.
