HI All,

we have 2 lpar been created on pServer and each lapr has been connected to san switch. We also have 1 tape library which has 2 tape drives. Both tape drive connect to same san switch. We do the zoning on san switch that only allow each server can only see one tape drive.

However after the configuration, one server is missing smc0 and another server has this device. How can I make both server able to have smc device.

Thanks,
Denny

Double check the zoning - make sure you have the WWPN's/aliases for the tape device and the fibre channel card for that server in the same zone.

Thanks for the reply.

The setup for zoning is same. That is why confused me.

Check the tape library and ensure that you have partitioned and assigned logical libraries , and that each tape drive has a control path.
