1km of under ground 62.5 Fiber cable required

tight buffered core locked for moisture and described as
for underground vs loose tube gel filled for under ground

tight buffered easier because no fan out kits, less labour.

will it stand up as well as gel filled over the years?

I have tight buffered cable running in an underground mine that is 8 years old. 100baseFX should be able to do 1 km in a 62.5 nm fiber, but for gig to go 1 km you will need 9nm fiber, this might be the time to plan ahead.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

If reputable cable mfg I also say it will last multi-years.

Tight buffered has higher loss than loose tube, so if you loss budget is tight, or you have several splices you should look at loose tube instead.
