OK this is a tough call
100baseFX will do 2km over 62.5 or 50 nm multimode fiber, so it is an obvious choice now.
but if you need gigabit in the future, multimode (at 50nm ) can do 550 meters not nearly long enough, so you may need Single mode in the future. Single mode 100 meg gear is rare though.
I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
Labor and conduit space are the most expensive items. We always run a composite cable when pulling between buildings. Typically a 12MM/12SM composite cable so we're covered no matter what we want to do.
I usually install both as well. The network side of the house has at least a 1 GPS uplink, and they have plans for 2 GPS uplink to all our switches, so I use SM for them. On the telecom switches and building automation systems, I use 62.5 MM.
With the right 50 micron fiber, you can get upto 1100m for 1Gig, which is only 300m for 10Gig. But I concur with the previous posts of running both sm and mm. We run both even in places where we know absolutely for sure that we're never going to use one type or the other. We still run both anyway. Particularly with composite cable, no reason not to do it.
