FF vanishing fieldset

I can't seem to get FF to display the following....

1. display: inline-block;
2. clear: left;

1. does nothing, my labels are still all over the place and 2. seems to make the fieldset half disapear?

why do I always seem to get better results in a non-standards compliant browser?

I managed to work out the issue with it not showing, the footer had position:absolute; I still don't understand why the #container div is not expanding it seems clear:left is making the element do something wierd.

how do i make the fieldset #contactfs clear:left but stay withing the #content div container?
