i have a TN in one of my PBXs:

TKTP FEX
TN 8 0 0 1 member 1

Can I assume this is an FEX? does that mean a foreign exchange trunk? Or not necessarily? what is it exactly? there's no associated phone number, right? i just want to know what this is, what it's used for, etc. thanks for your help.

FEX stands for Foriegn Exchange, which means that you are getting the dial tone from a different area code or local office exchange. It might be used by your business to have a local phone number somewhere else. For the most part FX lines are very expensive and if you have them you should review exactly what they are used for. Considering that LD Rates are lower now than ever before you would need to have a very good reason to hang on to an FX line.
