Hey guys (and gals)

Just stumbled across this site a few days ago and spent hours looking through some of the old threads, gotta say, great forum!

Anyway, the reason for my post....

I`ve been working for a web design company for the last 4 months and decided to have a go and set up myself. I made a site (automatically changes depending if you use Netscape or IE) what do you think, does it look professional and any probs with it etc??

I have submitted it to several major search engines but can`t seem to get a ranking at all, can anyone tell me what I`m doing wrong??

Cheers

Your site looks very professional indeed. Congratulations! However I am not keen on the scrolling box for the text - it moves too fast and is too much effort to have to keep moving the mouse to read the text. In my opinion it is special effects for the sake of special effects. It would also be good to have links to your portfolio of client work - people will want to see it!!

Submissions to search engines is a tricky business. If you only submitted recently, then you probably won't have been entered into the database yet for many engines - most takes weeks and some take months to enter new sites.

You probably aren't doing anything wrong, it just takes patience. Make sure as well you opimise your pages well for the search engines. Pages that look good to the human eye will not always rank well in the engines!

I have heard, and used a bit, a tool that claims to be very effective in getting pages into searchengines. Check out WebPosition Gold at You can also use agencies that will submit sites for you and you only pay if they produce the results you want - is an example.

Best of luck!

Stuart
