Very nice, I like it. I think the next and previous arrows with the thumbnail inside them are pretty tricky.

Nothing to say that wouldn't be stupid and nitpicky with regards to layout, coding, etc.

When I click on an image in a gallery, I get the red square that says no image for a minute, and then it loads in a slidy sort of expandy way. I'd prefer just a straight load rather than an effect as the delay made me think the images weren't there at first, but that is pure personal preference.

Very nice, I like it.

I liked it, and I viewed in IE8, with no problemo's that I could see.

Not sure about the scrable of gallery titles, but I am not artistic in any way.

Very clean. Perhaps a little thin on actual information, and I have a bit of trouble seeing the shade of grey used for the text on my CRT monitor, but basically thumbs up.

I like. :)
Nice photographs too.

A couple of quibbles, nothing major though...

I would say that the navigation text was too bold, it doesn't quite sit comfortably with the weigh of the text used in the title graphic.

The image navigation buttons seem a little large and I'm not sure about the way they change position depending on the orientation of the photograph.

To be honest I wouldn't worry about them though. The quality of the photos does the job. What kit do you use? Hey, could you pull the EXIF data from the images and show that with each image?

Thanks folks.

@ascotta: The "scrabble" effect is deliberate, but may get out of hand once I've got a lot more images posted. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it...

@roshaoar: Yeah, I'm still finding the right balance between writing too much and not writing enough. Right now I've been concentrating on building the site and getting the pictures uploaded, more text will come.

@foamcow: Good point - I'll try toning down the menu bar a bit.

The nav buttons are rather oversize, but I wanted to explore building a site where everything conformed to a rigid grid of squares. I think the buttons would really stick out if they were smaller. Changing the layout for portrait/landscape pictures is, well, quirky - but I think that's allowed on an arty site. Note that the "next image" button stays in the same place for both image styles, so you can flick through the whole album without moving the mouse.

Kit-wise, the older pictures were taken with a Canon G3 compact, newer ones with a 30D SLR. I've just bought myself a 40D, but not uploaded any pictures from it yet. The camera used was one bit of metadata that I'd entered but wasn't displaying - I've changed that, so it's now shown.

Regarding EXIF data, it'd probably be simpler to manually transcribe aperture and exposure information (is there anything else in the EXIF that you'd like to see?) for each image. I could also come up with a geoposition for most of them too. I just don't want to add too much geeky information to distract the viewer from the picture.

I'm waiting now for Photobox.co.uk to update their "Pro Galleries" feature, so I can sell a few prints from the site.

You could always hide the Exif data and show it on a click or mouseover.
For me, the more geeky data the better :)
Metering mode, whether the flash fired etc is nice to see.
I like the data that you can get from Flickr photos as if I see something I like that I don't know how to do it can often give me a clue.
