I'm trying to use postgres with fedora(redhat), postgresql script will not work for me.
My postgres directory listings, are not in the same place as Redhat 9.0.
The directory listings are setup different than redhat 9.0.
mysql works fine.
PGDATA is lost, as POSTMASTER is concerned.
Thanks in advance
Fred

In Fedora your data directory should be in /var/lib/pgsql/ unless you have installed it somewhere else.

I've never used RH9.0 but I'm not sure what that would have to do with this, unless you have copied over the Fedora startup script with the script from redhat 9.0. I'm not positive why you would want to do that.

If you have installed postgres from the fedora rpm packages, it will put a working script in /etc/init.d That script sets the PGDATA variable right at the top.
