I have tried loading Fedora 6 on my MPC server and it either dies during install or seems to install perfectly and then is unable to find the OS on reboot. Here is the hardware configuration of my system with one note. I am not installing to the RAID. I'm putting in a PATA drive in a removable carrier. The carrier is connected to the motherboard via SATA (Kingston removable drive frames allow for either PATA or SATA drives to be used).

What does grub think of your PATA/SATA removable drive?

SATA drives are recognized as SCSI (SDA1, SDA2, SDC2, etc...)

Pata drives are normal IDE, HDA1, HDA2, etc...

Now your carrier allows either PATA or SATA but the connection to your motherboard is SATA; I think that grub.conf should try to start from a SATA disk.

If I could have sex each time I reboot my server, I would definitely prefer Windoz over Linux!
