Does anyone know the update for Fedora Core Linux to update the daylight savings time for US Pacific Standard Time? I saw one example out there that was for Central time and said something like this (zdump -v CST6CDT | grep 2007)... do I have to update tzdata package first?? Thanks in advance...

John

Try this:

zdump -v /etc/localtime | grep 2007

If it shows you the the time changes start on April 1st instead of March 11th, then you will need to update tzdata. You may have to update a lot of dependencies also so the easiest way would be to use yum. The command is very easy. Just type 'yum update' (without quotes)on the command line and it will update everything you have installed on your machine. If that fails, go to fedora's website and check for a patch. Every distro is aware of this and have provided a patch but many of them require a bunch of other things including gcc to be uptodate.

Well I gave that a try but no luck so far... I did the command before and after yum update and installing a brand new tzdata rpm... anyone else have any ideas?

In that case, I dare to say that tzdata is uptodate. ;-) The file that is being dumpted however may be out of date. Depending on your distro and exact configuration for your location, the file that tzdata writes to could be in any of a buzillion places. The easiest way may be to reset your settings running 'timeconfig' and saving the new settings. This should update /etc/localtime.

question?

Does anyone knows where to find repositorios url for yum on Red Hat ENT 4

I'd suggest Dag's repository. dag.wieers.com
