Fedora will get to the point of upgrading but says there are no hard drives. What do I need to do to get Fedora to see them?

Do you upgrade via net? from cd/dvd?
Perhaps there is an option to specify special hardware/system settings in the beginning?

I've got the Fedora Core 2 isos expanded to CDs. I'm going to try boot: dd sym......(can't remember now.. brain fading..)
