I have a trunk with a POTS line for our voicemail number. TOday my users in that office started complaining that when people leave voicemail messages the caller is not disconnecting. So if someone were to call and leave a ten-second message the voicemail is recording another 2 minutes and 50 seconds of silence (max storage time must be three minutes). I see the FEDC parameter on the route is JNT. Can't find any definition in the NTP saying exactly what JOINT CONTROL means, but it seems that this means BOTH ends have to disconnect simultaneously. Should I just change this to ETH? thanks for your help.

fdec =eth
ndce= eth
supv = no,(i don't expect dico supervision from the remote end).. make sure the swithc setting on the card and the trunk match ie loop or ground. should be ground for a pbx at all times, loop works but has glare and do tear down issues

there's no SUPV prompt on the route. I'm sure that's somewhere else but i can't find it right now so I'm just going to change th FEDC to ETH. It's ground. thanks.

Caution about SUPV as a long distant carrier needs answer supervision to determine when to start billing for a longdistant call.

the supv is asking if supv is controlled by far end, when you answer no, your switch handles answer supervision. and your right about that being on the trunk,

Unkalary, this is a POTS line that users call in on to retrieve voicemail so I don't think what you're telling me is applicable. But I will keep your post in mind for future reference. Thank you.
