FDMS limit of 999 transactions in Aloha

Has anyone heard that in Aloha you can't do more than 999 transactions? A customer of mine has some Aloha sites and keeps hitting this limit.

Only if you are using first data (CES) add
Maxtransactionsperbatch=9999 to the edc.ini. close edc, restart the edc service and then restart edc

I wonder why they would have a limit like that and why they wouldn't just change the default.
