Hi

Some folks rate this site, others less positive. I quite like it, useful if you are familiar with a flavour of UNIX and you want to find equivalent commands in other flavours:

fdisk is like the format command on Solaris, but and heres the good news AIX makes it even easier

First you have a volume group - which contains volumes

use lsvg to list them
use smit mkvg to make them
use man mkvg for more detail

*NOTE* A good feature of smit is that when you have filled in the detail you want press f6 or esc+6 to see the command line version of what smit is doing.

Next you have a logical volume (This is a little like a partition)

use lslv to list
use smit mklv to make them
use man mklv for more detail

And Finally you have the File system

take a look at /etc/filesystems
use smit mkfs to make them
see man mkfs

Hope this helps

Mike
