We have multiple spare FC4500 Storage Processors where the TIMEKEEPER SNAPHAT battery failed. Now they fail to boot and just display Information Code 0x00000074. Is there a way to break out of POST and get to the diagnostic menu? On a working SP, we can wait until the application starts, then press @$@$ to get the AROM> prompt. At that point we can go into the Nonvol menu and set the date/time. However, we cannot get a prompt on the failing cards, even after installing a fresh TIMEKEEPER SNAPHAT / battery. Tried @$@$, CTR-SHIFT-F12, and {}{} with no luck. We suspect that the TIMEKEEPER oscillator needs a kick-start by properly setting the START bit at the appropriate address, and/or setting a valid date/time in BCD format at the appropriate address per the component datasheet. It would be nice if there was a way to get out of this error mode via serial port commands, instead of manually initializing the Nonvol chip (especially since it's small surface mount component).

Again, the question is:
Can we get to some kind of FC4500 serial port prompt when it fails POST with Information Code 0x00000074?

We tried going through EMC technical support, but the product has been EOSL for so long, they cannot locate any repair documentation for these storage processors. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
