I have installed FC5 Linux in VMware on a Win XP Pro machine to do some testing on and the install is exactly like several I've done on its own standalone hardware, I installed it with Xwindows but no Gnome or KDE... then I installed Fluxbox on it and when I did startx it crashes... Any obvious ideas or will I have to do a lot of digging??

What crashes? Fluxbox or the whole VM? What error messages? Have you installed and/or configured VMware Tools on the guest OS?

Its Xwindows that crashes not Linux or VMware…
the error message is-

Could not init font path element unix/:7100, removing from list!

Fatal server error:
Could not open default font ‘fixed’
X10: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server “:0.0”
After 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

I did install artwiz-aleczapka-fonts-1.3-4.fc5.noarch.rpm which is something fluxbox always wants before it will install…

Ahh... nevermind...I got it working...
Resolution was to-

Insert "/usr/share/fonts/artwiz-aleczapka-en-1.3" as the font path in the xorg.conf file...

Thanks anyway!
